Atsuko Mochida (Tokyo, 1989). Atsuko began her residency with an exhibition on March 2, in which she exhibited experimental, improvisational and collaborative works with Yuko Mohri who was also a resident during that period in Artista X Artista. The works for this show have been inspired by the experiences of the artist in the daily life of Havana. Mochida and Mohri also offered a talk about their previous practices on the same day and presented their new pieces for the "Going Away Closer" exhibition that took place at the Wifredo Lam Contemporary Art Center on March 9. This residence is the result of the exchange between Artista X Artista and the Japan Foundation.
Atsuko Mochida's work breaks with physical boundaries: it turns the space we perceive in everyday life into something threatening, irresistible, into a new level of subconscious behavior. Invading both public and private space, it is capable of translating everyday feelings into objects and physical installations. Among his most recent exhibitions are the collective exhibitions "Desintegriert Euch!" (Maxim Gorki Theater, 3.BERLINER HERBSTSALON, Berlin, Germany) and "C / Sensor-ed Scape" (Tokyo Wonder Site Hongo, Tokyo, Japan) both in 2017.
