Leandro Feal (Havana, 1986) lives and works in Havana. Graduated in the Nacional Academy of Arts San Alejandro in Cuba, postgraduated of Cátedra Arte de Conducta, run by Tania Bruguera, and taking his first year of Superior Institute of Art in Havana, ISA, in the last few years he has enjoyed different grants, amongst we should highlight the one from the New York Film Academy (2015)
He has displayed individually his art in Bilbao: Bilbao Arte (2015); Havana: Luz y Oficios; Centro Provincial de Artes Plásticas y Diseño (2015); Centro de Desarrollo de las Artes Visuales (2013). Among other collective exhibitions, it must be emphasized his involvement in Iván de la Nuez’s “Iconocracia”, Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno- CAAM (2016) and Artium, Vitoria-Gasteiz (2015), “Colimadores- Cuba I’m Blick”, Kunsträume Michael Horbach Stiftung, Colonie, Germany(2015); “Politics: I do not like it but it likes me“, Centre for Conteporary Art Laznia, Gdansk, Poland (2013).
He has been almost a decade documenting his own view trought photography, sometimes, in a sharp and literal way about the daily things, and others, pursuing what he wants to see in a tenacious way. From the exercise of capturing what he looks at, images that come together as a serie emerge. He freezes moments, faces and places that won’t come back, or situations and people that are repeated one time and another through history, or even in different places of the world.
