Taxio Ardanaz (Pamplona, 1978) lives and works in Bilbao. Graduated in Arts by Universidad del País Vasco. In the last few years he has enjoyed several residence grants in Kunsthaus Bregenz, Austria (2014); BilbaoArte, Bilbao (2013); Oficina de Arte, City of Mexico (2012) and MA Studio in Beijing (2009). He has displayed his work individually in Bilbao: Gio Bat (2015) and Sala Rekalde(2014); Madrid: Galeria Raquel Ponce (2013) and RMS El Espacio (2011); City of Mexico: Ateneo Español de Mexico (2012) and AN Studio (2011); and Pamplona: Polvorín de la Ciudadela (2008). Amongst collective exhibits, we must highlight his participation in “ Entornos Próximos 2008 ” , Artium, Vitoria-Gasteiz. He has enjoyed diferent art creations grants and recognitions, like the first prize in the XV Concurso de Pamplona Jóvenes Artistas (1999) and the second prize in the XXIV Certamen Encuentros de Navarra (2007); being selected in the itinerant show Ertibil (2008), in Certamen Internacional de Artes Plásticas de Pollença (2010) and Premio Ciutat de Palma (2014), among others.
Taxio Ardanaz will be the first resident artist of the long period collaboration program between Azkuna Zentroa (Bilbao) and Artista X Artista. Part of this residence will be developed in our space in Cuba, and in Bilbao. The project has been chosen by a jury formed by Lucia Aguirre, Deputy Director of Curatorial and Documentation of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao; Lourdes Fernández, Director of Azkuna Zentroa; Carlos Garaicoa, Representative and Director of Artista X Artista; and Rakel Esparza, Coordinator of Cultural Programming of Azkuna Zentroa.
